Eligibility to Become a Teacher
If you’re looking to become a private school teacher, then a graduation with more than 60% percentage is essential. However, this can be different with some schools in your locality.
Professionally, at least you’ll need to complete bachelor’s degree in B.Ed (you can choose the stream depending on your interest). Apart from this, you can also increase the degree level with M.Ed on the same subject.
Can you become a teacher after completing 12th?
To become a professional teacher, first you must have BA (Bachelors of Arts), B.Com (Bachelors of Commerce) or B.Sc (Bachelors of Science) or any equivalent graduation to join B.Ed (Bachelors of Education).
After completing B.Ed you can do M.Ed as mentioned above or you can stop studies and become a teacher.

Teaching Training Courses After 12th
As mentioned above, you must complete graduation to do become teacher in India. If you don’t to complete 12th, then you can directly join D.Ed mentioned above and become a primary teacher.
#1 (BA + B.Ed Integrated course)
As B.Ed is a post graduation program, it takes much time to complete this teaching training course. So, government came up with this dual degree both Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Education. You can select your subjects depending on your choice.
Duration: 4 years
Eligibility to join this degree: 10+2 (12th class) with atleast 50% percentage of marks. This may differ from college to college.
After completing this degree you can appear for TET (State Teacher Eligibility Test) or CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) conducted by state and center for government teaching staff.
#2 B.Sc + B.Ed Integrated Course
Before, students used to do B.Ed after completing B.Sc, however now you can directly join B.Sc + B.Ed integrated course to become teacher after completing 12th.
If you’ve completed B.Sc then you can join B.Ed after writing entrance exam conducted by your state board to become a teacher after 12th science.
Duration for integrated course is 4 years.
If you’ve completed diploma in education (D.Ed) then you can directly join this integrated courses (B.Sc + B.Ed and BA + B.Ed) in 2nd year.
#3 D.EL.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education)
Right after completing 12th class you can join D.Ed course to become a primary teacher in private and government school. This course helps you to be trained in teaching primary school students.
#4 B.P.Ed (Bachelors of Physical Education)
Education isn’t just about reading. Students need time to play, so a physical teacher has responsibility to train students in sports.
This undergraduate program will help you to know above different techniques that are useful to maintain fitness. Depending on the University this degree duration can vary from 3-4 years.
Duration: 2-4 years
Eligibility: Must have passed 12th class with at least 50% percentage of marks. This may vary from university to university.

#5 B.EL.Ed (Bachelors of Elementary Education)
It may look similar to D.EL.Ed but it takes 4 years to complete this course. Bachelors of Elementary Education will train you to become a primary teacher in government or private school.
Duration: 4 years. 3+1(practice session)
Eligibility: 10+2 of any stream.
#6 DPE (Diploma in Physical Education)
As the name suggests it’s an undergraduate diploma degree in physical education. After 12th class you need to appear for entrance exam, based on that you’ll get admission into DPE course.
Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: 10+2 of any stream.
Teacher Course After 12th Commerce, Science or Arts?
