How to Become Village Development Officer (VDO) or Gram Panchayat Adhikari?

Who Is Village Development Officer or Gram Panchayat Adhikari?

India is most populous country in the world only after China and in one of the report which is “India’s Economic and Caste Census” which was collected by Indian Government stated that among India’s nearly 244 Million households.

More than 179 million of them live in villages. This date can suffice what is the scope of a Village Development Officer in Indian Democracy.

The Village Development Officer works with Panchayat of specific village by enabling them to function as institutions of Self-Government. He/She works extensively in preparation of plans for economic development and social justice and also implementation of schemes for economic development and social justice.

VDO works as a link between the Government and the villagers by communicating the government schemes to village people and solving their problems related to government schemes like pension to old people, farming loan schemes, medical schemes, insurance schemes for agricultural produce, minimum support price for the certain crops and many more.

The Department of Gram Panchayat was started in the year 1948 with responsibility of monitoring and articulation of Gram Panchayat which are established under UP Panchayat Raj Act, 1947.

With a vision of giving the rural people a chance of Self-administration.and today we have 75 Zila Panchayat (District Panchayat) 821 Kshetra Panchayat (Intermediary Panchayat ) and 51914 Gram Panchayat (Village Panchayat).

How to Become Village Development Officer?

Village Development officer is recruited by UPSSSC where the posts are released through a notification to certain vacant posts.

Eligibility:

  • Candidate looking to apply for this post should have passed the 12th grade from recognized board of the State.
  • Candidate should also posses the certificate in Diploma in CCC (Course on Computer course)

Course on Computer course prominently known as (CCC or Triple C) is articulated as basic level IT Literacy Programme for the common man which by National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology helps the rural youth to get ahead with initial knowledge of computer and can excel in various life careers.

The Course can be learned through various institutions which are approved by state or central authorities.

The Course contains basic syllabus like

  • Introduction of Computer
  • Operating System
  • MS-Word
  • MS-Excel
  • MS-Powerpoint
  • Internet Applications etc,

On the Completion of the exam a certificate is given by the Ministry of IT,Govt of India. And the examination for CCC Certificate will be conducted by NIELIT in the specific dates under the calender year.

Age Limit:

  • Candidate should posses min age of 18 to apply for the post
  • Candidate should posses max age of 40 to apply.

Note: OBC candidates given 3 years age relaxation and relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

VDO Selection Process:

The selection of VDO is purely based on the merit scored in the selection process, without a delay let’s see the process. The Candidate who wants to be selected as VDO need to go through the phases of Recruitment;

  1. Written Examination
  2. Interview

Written Examination:

Examination Contains in three categories and is a objective type and with a duration of 2 hours and also carries a negative marking of 0.5.

General Hindi            50 Questions     100 Marks

General Intelligence     50 Questions      100 Marks

General Knowledge      50 Questions      100 Marks

Syllabus for the Examination:

General Hindi includes Antonyms, Spellings, Word formation phrases, Sentence research gender, proverbs and idioms, Synonyms, tatsam and tadbhav etc ,

General Intelligence the topics to be covered are Syllogism, Number series, Blood Relations, Venn Diagrams, Data Interpretation, Seating Arrangements, Coding and Decoding, Statement Assumptions, Statement Conclusion, Statement Agreements, Arithmetical Reasoning, Analogies etc,

General Knowledge includes History, Geography, Polity, Economics, Sports, Indian Culture, General science, Important events, National and international news, Music and literature, Countries and capitals, Current Affairs etc.

General Intelligence –

  • Arihant Maths Papers for Banking Exam and SSC Exams
  • NCERT Maths of 10,11,12

General Knowledge –

  • Lucent’s Objective General knowledge
  • Laxamikanth for the Polity
  • Arihant Genral knowledge by Manohar Pandey
  • And Daily News paper for Current affairs.

Interview:

Candidates selected in the written examination based on the merit are promoted to the next round which is Interview round,

Where the candidates knowledge is checked about the village demography and test his personality as he has to work for the development and welfare of village.

Salary of Village Development Officer:

Candidates selected under this post receive as Village Development officer receive around 5200/- to 20000/- .

Role of Village Development Officer:

The Village Development Officer works with Panchayat of that specific village with the other members of Panchayat like Sarpanch, Secretary etc,

  • He should take care of Government schemes that are to be given to villagers
  • He should organize meeting for welfare and development
  • He should act as a bridge between the Government and Villagers
  • He should look after Drinking water, Sanitation, Medical health, Education

When the UPSSSC releases the notification have to

  • Go to the website and check for the link for the application form.
  • Fill the application form and Submit it.
  • You will have a payment option.

Fee Payment for the exam varies on the category

General/OBC   Rs 185/-

SC/ST          Rs 95/-

Physically Handicapped Rs 25/-

Study Plan:
