How to Get Admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya for Private Employees?

Kendriya Vidyalaya, are a group of schools that are run directly by the Ministry of Education under the Government of India. There are more than 1000 schools that are run all over India.

These schools were initially started in the year 1963 and then they were called Central schools.

The main motto of these schools is to educate the children of the Indian Defence personnel who often had a task of shifting schools with their parents which leads to change in curriculum always and the places they are posted in rural areas in such scenario the Central schools are best option for them.

These central schools always follow a similar curriculum all around India, and even if students transfer school to school don’t have to face the issues.

Education system in this is not confined only to the Indian defence personnel kids but is extended to the central government employees too.

Kendriya Vidyalaya schools follow a Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) curriculum which has a very unique study plan which let’s students not just study and rot the books instead focus more on the practicality and let them get the right exposure.

How to Get Admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya for Private Employees?

The answer for this is that private employee’s kids can get into these schools only if certain schools are having vacant seats, and need to be filled. The private employee kids get the last priority during the filling of seats.

Allotted Categories:

The seats available in the Kendriya Vidyalaya are allotted for few categories as mentioned below are on a preference basis:

  • For Army and Ex-army kids
  • For Central Government Kids
  • For Government employed kids
  • For Single girl child quota
  • For kids of private employees

Admission Procedure for Kendriya Vidyalaya:

The Kendriya Vidyalaya schools are under the Central board of secondary education (CBSE), and the application process for these schools is different for Class 1 and other classes.

Class 1 students can get admission online and all the other class students have to do it through offline mode.

Now let’s see the complete procedure for the admissions.

How to Register for Kendriya Vidyalaya for Class 1 Students?

The Official Website for Kendriya Vidyalayaadmissions is, kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in

Note: Students who want to join in the 2021 year can also start the procedure for admission. The dates are already mentioned on the website.

Stage 1:

After visiting above mentioned official website, you’ll find “Click on Register”.

On the new registration page fill in all the details like First name, Date of Birth, Email ID, Mobile Number, Captcha code, and then register.

Once registered the details have to be noted down and a printout can also be taken of the filled admission form.

Stage 2:

Login to the account through login credentials, date of birth, and mobile number.

Then the students can save more details like blood group category details, parent and address details.

Stage 3:

Then the next stage in this process is uploading the documents like Proof of birth, passport size photo of the student.

Once the registration is done you’ve to check regularly whether they are allotted the seats in school. The Class one students are selected based on the online lottery system.

Class 2 to class 12 admissions process

Class 2 and till class 8 students are done partly by the lottery system and partly by giving priority to government-staffed kids.

  • Class 9 students have to go through an online exam to be selected.
  • Class 11 students are selected based on the Class 10 marks.
  • Class 10 and 12 students are given seats based on available seats.

Students are also allotted on a quota basis and categorized reservation percentage.

  1. EWS (Economic Weaker section)  25%
  2. SC (Scheduled Caste)             15%
  3. ST (Scheduled Tribe)              7.5%
  4. Physically handicapped            3%

You can also get admission under MP Quota basis under which MP can recommend students. Important aspect in this is the date; a specific date is allotted for the admission and has to be done accordingly.

Age Limit:

Now let’s see the age needed to get into the specific classes.

1st Class      Min Age 5 Years – Max Age 7 Years

2nd Class            Min Age 6 Years- Max Age 8 Years

3rd Class      Min Age 7 Years- Max Age 9 Years

4th Class       Min Age 8 years-Max Age 10 years

5th Class       Min Age 9 years- Max Age 11years

6th Class       Min Age 10 years- Max Age 12 years

7th Class             Min Age 11 Years- Max Age 13 years

8th Class       Min Age 12 years- Max Age 14years

9th Class       Min Age 13 years- Max Age 15 years

10th Class      Min Age 14 years- Max Age 16 years

Documents required for the admission process:

As we have gone through the admission criteria, now let’s see the documents required to submit after getting admission.

  1. Certificate of proof of age for class 1 students i.e. birth certificate.
  2. Transfer certificates for the students from other schools if needed.
  3. A caste certificate if needed in the admission process when applying for quota.
  4. If applied under the handicapped quota, a medical certificate from the doctors.
  5. If grandchildren are applying, they should submit proof of relationship with their guardians.
  6. In some cases we should also have to submit address proof.

Enter the login credentials to check the status.

Fee Structure:

Kendriya Vidyalaya offers a nominal amount of fees to the students.

The fee structure varies from class to class, the fees averages from around Rs200/- to Rs1000/- which includes tuition fees and computer fees.

The fees are exempted to the

  • Girl students from 1 to 12 classes,
  • SC/ST students
  • And also if their parents are staff of the school
  • Kids of martyrs are also given exemption
  • Children of poor people who fall below the poverty line are exempted

Are Kendriya Vidyalaya’s best than the Private schools?

Kendriya Vidyalaya schools are best when compared to corporate schools as these schools concentrate not only on academics but they give sports and cultural exposure to students; eventually students can develop in other areas too.

Hence if you are a private employee and want your kids to get educated in a Kendriya Vidyalaya, follow the above procedures and qualify above given criteria.
